Sports Injury

Dr David Buckler, MB CHB, MRCP, MRCGP, MSc Sports Medicine

Dr David Buckler is a local GP and a Clinic Director. He obtained his masters in Sports Medicine and is medical officer to the Everest Marathon and Northamptonshire Cricket Team.  He has an interest in endurance sport and overuse injuries to the knees and shoulders.

Sarah Slater, MSc BSc Grad Dip Phys, MCSP, SRP

Sarah trained at Leeds qualifying in 1989. She completed her MSc at Manchester in 1997. Sarah is an experienced physiotherapist specialising in sports injury and musculoskeletal disorders, including spinal and peripheral joint problems. Sarah has worked both in the NHS and private sector specialising in outpatients. She then gained further experience in the NHS before working in the private sector at The Abington Clinic She is also a member of the Chartered Society of Physiotherapists and Health Professional Council.

Sophie Reed, BSc (Hons), MCSP, SRP

Sophie trained at Coventry University qualifying in 1995. She worked at the Hammersmith Hospital for 2 years before going to Australia for a year, where she worked in a private clinic and the public sector. She then gained further experience in the NHS before working in the private sector at The Abington Clinic. She is also a member of the Chartered Society of Physiotherapists and Health Professional Council

Sue McRae, MCSP, SRP HPC

Sue qualified in 1978 at Kings College Hospital Physiotherapy School. She is an experienced physiotherapist, specialising in musculoskeletal disorders, including spine and peripheral joint problems, sports injuries and biomechanics. She then gained further experience in the NHS before working in the private sector at The Abington Clinic She is also a member of the Chartered Society of Physiotherapists and Health Professional Council

Chiropractic

Heather Wright, DC MMCA                     

Heather graduated from the McTimoney Chiropractic College in Oxford in 1999 and is a member of the General Chiropractic Council, the McTimoney Chiropractic Association and in the National Back Pain Association. She has worked at the Abington Clinic since 2000. As part of her continuing professional development she also qualified in massage and soft tissue techniques which she uses in conjunction with chiropractic. Heather provides a caring professional patient-centred approach which focuses on a holistic treatment combined with an up-to -date knowledge. Heather is registered with BUPA, AXA/PPP and most major insurance companies

Maxine Chimes, DC MMCA LicAc, MBAcC

Maxine graduated from the McTimoney Chiropractic College in 1996 and is registered with the General Chiropractic Council and is a member of both the McTimoney Chiropractic Association and the College of Chiropractors. She is also a member of the British Acupuncture Council having graduated from the British College of Acupuncture in 1991. In addition to chiropractic and acupuncture, Maxine also offers reflexology, cranial sacral therapy, Indian head massage, Vega Testing and thermo-auricular therapy (Hopi ear candling). Maxine is registered with BUPA, AXA/PPP and most major insurance companies.

Osteopathy

Dan Warin, BSc (Hons) Osteopathic Medicine

Dan is a qualified Osteopath and has worked with The Abington Clinic team since 2005. A graduate from the Surrey Institute of Osteopathic Medicine, Dan provides an approachable, professional, holistic and patient centred approach combined with a comprehensive and modern perspective on health. Dan has furthered his studies with Cranial Osteopathy and is continually undergoing professional development to maintain a high standard and remain up to date. In addition to being registered with the General Osteopathic Council he is also a member of the British Osteopathic Society.

Podiatry

Suzanne Avil, DPoDM, SRCh, MChS

Suzanne qualified from the Northampton School of Podiatry in 1991. She specialises in the management of callus, corns verrucae, ulcers and in-growing toe nails. Other areas of practice include biomechanical assessment of the lower limb involving the provision of insoles and orthoses.

Psychotherapy

Andre Symeou, BSc.Dip.P., PsyC

Andre specialises in the cognitive behavioural treatment of anxiety, panic attacks, phobias, obsession and compulsion, depression, relationship difficulties, confidence and self-esteem and eating problems by removing negative patterns and conditioning the patient into new and better ways of operating.

Trichologist

Jacqueline Martin

Jacqueline is a qualified clinical trichologist who trained and graduated from The Institute of Trichologists. She can diagnose and offer advice, treatment and re-assurance on a wide range of hair and scalp disorders including hair loss /thinning /shedding /breakage, scalp eczema, scalp psoriasis, itchy/scaly scalp conditions and afro hair problems.

Hypnotherapy

Graham Old

Graham is a Certified Clinical Hypnotherapist, specialising in solution-focused hypnosis to help you quit smoking, learn to relax, manage pain, lose weight, conquer phobias and anxieties, improve relationships and deal with stress. Graham works with individuals, couples and groups, and thanks to a background in pastoral counselling and a long career in family support, mental health and learning difficulties, is able to provide a compassionate, caring and contemporary approach. Graham is certified in Ericksonian hypnotherapy and NLP, he is also a licentiate member of the Hypnotherapy Society and one of the few licensed Hypno-Band Weight practitioners in the area.

Facial aesthetics

Dr Vanessa Clewett

Vanessa graduated from University College London Medical School in 1997 with Distinction in Surgery where she worked in several hospital specialities including paediatrics, obstetrics and gynaecology and general medicine. In 2000 she completed her GP training and obtained membership of the Royal College of General Practitioners (MRCGP). Vanessa has always had a keen interest in the medical and cosmetic uses of botulinum toxin and completed her facial aesthetic training with Harley Street based trainers.
